Apple TV Announced to Star Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin in New Drama Series

On Monday, February 28, Apple TV officially announced to order a new limited event drama series, which will star Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin.

“The drama will explore the thrilling story of one of the greatest gambles of Benjamin Franklin’s career. At age 70, without any diplomatic training, Franklin convinced France – an absolute monarchy – to underwrite America’s experiment in democracy,” Apple TV describes.

The eight-year French mission stands as Franklin’s most vital service to his country, without which America would not have won the Revolution.

With featuring the story of Benjamin Franklin, the drama series will be written and executive produced by Kirk Ellis, directed by Tim Van Patten, who will serve as executive producer alongside Michael Douglas, Richard Plepler, Tony Krantz, and Mark Mostyn, while Stacy Schiff will serve as co-executive producer.

However, the global premiere date of the new Benjamin Franklin-focused drama with multi-award winner Michael Douglas on Apple’s video streaming platform is currently not revealed by the company. You can read more about the new series on the Apple TV+ press release.
