Apple Pay Now Accessible to Use For “Mir” Card Users in Russia

Russian customers who are utilizing cards with “Mir” which is the Russian payment system now have access to utilizing their cards with Apple Pay.

According to the report of Russian News Agency ‘Tass’ through a press release by the payment system, Apple Pay becomes available to Mir cardholders in Russia.

Russia’s national payment system “Mir” has more than 270 banks as participants and Mir cards issued by over 150 banks. As of now, the Russian national payment system Mir is accepted in 11 countries. And the first test operations have been applied in 3 more countries.

Following banks were the first banks to provide the support of Apple Pay to their Mir cards customers.

“Russian Agricultural Bank, Pochta Bank, Sberbank, Tinkoff Bank, VTB, Primsotsband, and Center-Invest Bank were the first banks to give their Mir cards customers with Apple Pay,” said Vladimir Komlev, General Director of the payment system.

According to the press release of the payment system, customers can be started using Apple Pay on their Mir cards from Tuesday.

In October 2016, Apple Pay was first launched in Russia, and then it was expanded to more banks in several countries.
