On Thursday, April 21, Apple TV officially announced to green-light the new “Hijack” in partnership with Emmy Award-nominated Idris Elba.
Told in real time, the new series is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, as authorities on the ground scramble for answers, Apple describes.
Elba will star as Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but his high-risk strategy could be his undoing.
A new seven-part “Hijack” thriller is the first project that will “hail from Elba’s first-look deal with Apple TV+ and his Green Door Pictures.”
The new series is directed by Jim Field Smith, produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions in partnership with Green Door, and written by George Kay.
Executive produced by Idris Elba, Jim Field Smith, and George Kay alongside Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Kris Thykier. However, the premiere date of the new “Hijack” thriller is currently hasn’t been shared by the company.
