On Monday, August 15, Apple TV unveiled the first look at the new drama series — Shantaram, which is based on the bestselling novel by Gregory David Roberts.
The series “follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Hunnam) looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it,” Apple describes.
The new “Shantaram” drama series stars Shubham Saraf, Sujaya Dasgupta, Shiv Palekar, Rachel Kamath, Elektra Kilbey, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Fayssal Bazzi, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, and Matthew Joseph.
The highly-anticipated series is written by Steve Lightfoot and directed by Bharat Nalluri who both also serve as executive producers alongside Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin, Justin Kurzel, and Eric Warren Singer.
The 12-episode “Shantaram” drama series will globally premiere with the first three episodes on Apple TV+ on October 14, one new episode will release every Friday a week through December 12, 2022.
