Apple Watch Series 8 to Feature Body Temperature Measurement

Apple is now reportedly planning to implement a major new body temperature measurement feature to its Apple Watch Series 8 coming later this year.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said a tweet, Apple originally planned to provide the body temperature measurement feature in the Apple Watch Series 7 but unfortunately, the algorithm failed to meet Apple’s high standards in the engineering validation testing (EVT) phase last year before entering the mass production.

So, Kuo now believes that the company will offer this major new health feature in its next-generation Apple Watch Series 8, which is expected to announce in the second half of this year, along with the iPhone 14 lineup in September.

A primary challenge for getting accurate results is that body temperature quickly changes based on environmental conditions outside and when it comes to hardware, Apple’s smartwatch can’t support core temperature measurement, it requires a strong algorithm for precisely working together.

Alongside the Apple Watch Series 8, Kuo also reports that Samsung is also experiencing the same challenges and that’s why, the Galaxy Watch 5, which will debut in 2H22, won’t feature body temperature measurement owing to algorithm limitations.
