On June 7, at the 2021 Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple unveiled its new and the latest version of the operating system for iPhone, “iOS 15.”
Apple introduces a few but important features to iOS 15, including Notification Summary, Focus, Spotlight, new features in FaceTime, Redesign Photos app, 3D view in Maps, Additional keys support, Completely New look of Safari, New Messages features, Redesigned Weather app, Sharing Health data, New Find My features, Categorized Notes in New ways, New features in Reminder and Siri, and much more.
So, after announced all-new major and incredible hardware and software technologies in the California streaming event, Apple now releasing the official stable version of iOS 15 to all users who have eligible iPhones.
iOS 15 Supported Devices
All of the same iOS 13 and iOS 14 supported iPhones are compatible with iOS 15, meaning iPhone 6s to the latest iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPod Touch (7th generation) now gets the update of Apple’s latest operating system for iPhone.
How to Remove Beta Profile from iPhone? (If you have installed)
- Go to the Settings.
- Scroll down to find VPN & Device Management.
- Tap on (Developer or Public) Beta profile.
- Tap “Remove Profile.”
- Users will now redirect to the stable version (iOS 14.8)
How to Download and Install iOS 15?
Up until now, users are only able to download the latest iOS 15 from Apple Developer Center and Apple Beta Software Program to install developer and beta profile to download all beta software updates.
But after releasing the eighth beta update, Apple now releasing the official stable version of iOS 15 through the OTA (Over the Air) update, which can be download on above mentioned eligible iPhones by going to Settings > General > Software Update (After removing beta profile).
All-New Features of iOS 15
Apple introduced a new personalized Notification Summary feature that analyzes the user’s interactions with apps and prioritizes notifications using on-device intelligence. Notification Summary collects non-important notifications together and shows them to the user at a relevant time.
Notification Summary analyzes user’s apps usage and appears most important apps notifications at first and also instantly delivered some urgent message notifications. Now, with iOS 15, users are able to mute notifications of any particular app for a short time. And the new notification API allowing developers to send more important notifications and receiving notifications from users.
iOS 15 has introduced a new Focus feature that makes less distribution in users’ daily iPhone usability and helps them stay focused on the selected work. The new Focus feature has been designed for Home pages and provides notification according to the selected options (Do not disturb, Personal, Work, Sleep) from the Focus.
When a user selects any status from Focus, it automatically appears in Messages to other people with displaying that a user is currently unavailable apart from the urgent situation. Focus automatically suggests to users which apps and people should inform them at obvious times and its suggestions based on users’ interactions with apps and people, work timing, personal timing, and Sleep timing.
Users can also create their custom Focus to only shows limited Home Screen pages, obvious notifications from selected apps, and access the functionality of auto-replies for Messages. When a user-customized their Focus, it automatically syncs across all Apple devices. To show Focus status from third-party messaging apps, developers can implement a new status API.
With the new operating system on iPhone, users can now search photos, objects, locations, scenes, and people. And now Spotlight Search is able to find text and handwriting in photos using the new Live Text feature. Spotlight Search now also be supported to search web images, TV shows, movies, musicians, and actors.
There is now also functionality to quickly access Spotlight search from the lock screen of the iPhone and install the apps without go out from Spotlight Search. There is also now have an action button in the Spotlight Search on the Maps for business locations that support App Clips.
Spatial Audio works in FaceTime like voices in a video call sound as if they are coming from where the person is located on the display. The new microphone modes can separate a person’s voice from background noise.
Apple now added Portrait mode to FaceTime, so now users are able to put themselves in focus and blur their background. There is also a new systematic for group FaceTime calls that allowing members to see more faces at the same time. Apple announced two new major features to FaceTime this year, SharePlay and FaceTime Links.
A new SharePlay feature in FaceTime lets users share Apple Music songs, movies, or TV shows with each other at the time on FaceTime calls. Because all members sync with the same SharPlay session, anyone can play, pause, or skip content. And also the functionality to share their screen to see apps together in FaceTime call.
SharePlay is not only accessible with Apple services, but it also works with several third-party apps, like HBO Max, Paramount+, ESPN+, Disney+, TikTok, Twitch, Pluto TV, and others have claimed to unify with SharePlay.
Users can enjoy the SharePlay experience on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV as well to watch movies and shows on a big screen. A user can easily hear the voices of their friends even if the on-screen content is playing loudly with smart volume controls that automatically adjust the audio.
Users can now create a link for FaceTime call and invite their friends to join FaceTime call via Messages, Mail, or any third-party apps. Previously, FaceTime only worked on Apple devices but for the first Apple brings the support of FaceTime for Android and Windows.
Android users will automatically redirect to facetime.apple.com and the Windows user will be able to join FaceTime call through a web browser. And Apple claims that FaceTime calls on the web will remain end-to-end encrypted.
In iOS 15, the Photos app has significantly redesign with an entirely new look. Memories in the Photos app is recommend songs according to listening history on Apple Music for a more exclusive experience.
Users can customize memories by swiping in Memory mixes that allow users to select different songs with various paces and atmospheres. The 12 Memory looks will add mood accordingly to analyzing the usability of photos and video in the Photos app.
There are also different Memory types, including international holidays, child-focused memories, pet memories, and others. It also includes the possibility to view and edit all content from a Memory in a bird’s eye view, and the ‘Watch Next’ section recommends associated memories to watch.
There is also a new “Feature Less” option to allow particular photos or pictures for a specific date, place, or person to show less over Featured Photos. Users can now see more information for the specific photo in detail, including device name, lens, shutter speed, file size, and sender name in Messages. Now, users are able to edit the picture taken date, location, and facility to add a caption.
The Photos image picker now lets users to sharing photos in a systematic specific order. And third-party apps work the same if a user allows them to access the specific content in the Photos library. In iOS 15, the initial sync of iCloud Photos on a new device is faster, according to Apple.
Maps now allow to view cities in a new 3D map and includes remarkably improved information for commercial districts, buildings, and local areas with custom-designed landmarks, and a new “moonlit” night-time mode.
Maps also provide a new 3D city-driving experience with bike lanes, turn lanes, and pedestrian crosswalks types of road details that work on both iPhone and Apple CarPlay.
For travelers, there is a newly redesigned transit navigation to easily find nearby stations. There is a new way for walkers to find directions with augmented reality. Users have to simply open the camera on iPhone and hold up, and Maps are generated accurate and detailed walking directions.
Users can easily find information about business places and locations with redesigned place cards, and the new ‘Guides Home’ features provide information about new places.
While a user searching for a new location, there are new options to filter locations on the basis of opening times. Maps are automatically updated search results when a user moving around and now the most-used settings have located in one place.
With iOS 15, Apple entirely redesigned Safari with a fresh new look that brought all the Controls to the bottom of the screen for easy to reach with one hand. There is a new small rectangle tab bar at the bottom for easily jumping between tabs that contain a Smart Search field. Tab Groups let users save their tabs in a folder and sync across to all Apple devices.
Users can now use the voice search functionality and refresh a web page by simply pull down. Safari also gets a customizable start page and for the first time, includes the support of mobile web extensions. iOS 15 features Intelligent Tracking Prevention that prevents trackers from tracking you using an IP address, and Safari has automatically upgrade known sites from insecure HTTP to HTTPS.
Your shared content in Messages has automatically shown in a new “Shared with You” section in a similar app. ‘Shared with You’ have features in Photos, Safari, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, and the Apple TV app. Users can pin remarkable content, Messages search, and the Details of the conversation to get the important messages from selected people.
Photos Groups in Messages now show as a glanceable or swipeable stack, depending on how many photos. And also possible to find photos via Messages using a contact name. Messages now allow Brazil users to filter unwanted messages and some new options for the users of India and China. And lets users turn off selected notification types of messages.
Apple has completely redesigned the Weather app featuring in-detail weather data for every specific location, a full-screen map, and a functional layout that changes accordingly to outside weather conditions.
Apple has also includes animated backgrounds to the redesigned Weather app to more accurately provide the exact current positions and rain conditions. And there are also notifications to point out when rain or snow begins and stops.
Apple introduces new functionalities to the Find My app to help to find a lost device that has been turned off or erased from the Find My network. A friend or family member that chooses to share their location with you has now kept their location live to gives a sense of speed and direction.
There are new alerts to suggest to users if they leave any Apple devices behind in unknown places. And Apple is adding support of the Find My Network to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.
Note: Apple’s iOS 15 features page indicates that Find My support on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max won’t be available until this fall.
Users now categorize their notes in new ways in iOS 15. There is a Tag Browser to quickly see combinations of tagged notes, and the new custom folders automatically collect notes accordingly to tags. There is now possible to mention other users in notes to inform updates for shared notes.
In iOS 15, Reminders now have a feature to include tags to easily search and filter reminders. Like Notes, There is a Tag Browser to quickly see combinations of tag reminders, and the new custom smart lists automatically collect reminders according to tags.
iOS 15 also has quick options to effortlessly delete reminders, enhanced natural language support, and enlarged recommended attributes like flags, tags, priority, and more.
Using the Neural Engine, Siri requests can now process on the device. In iOS 15, Siri has remarkably improving responsiveness, enhancing security, and doesn’t require an internet connection.
When users use their devices, Siri enhances on-device speech recognition and also has the ability to learn about the contacts that users interact with most, subjects they read, new words they type with a view to offer better responses.
Siri can share onscreen items like web pages, pictures, content from Apple Podcasts or Apple Music, Apple News, locations, Maps, Message, or even take a screenshot to share.
Users can request Siri to manage a HomeKit device at a particular time or in precise situations such as when users go out of their house. Users can ask Siri what is running on their screen in Apple CarPlay and it is also capable to announce notifications like Reminders.
In iOS 15, Siri provides a neural text-to-speech voice in more languages, including Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Finnish. Siri also supports a mix of Indian English and original languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, and Gujarati.
In iOS 15, the Wallet app supports home, office, corporate, and hotel room key cards. With the Wallet app, users can now lock, unlock, and start their car using an Ultra-Wideband U1 chip without taking out their iPhone from their pocket.
Remote keyless entry controls in the Wallet app now let users lock or unlock their cars, and manage some other components of the car, including horn and trunk.
Later this year, users of the United States will be able to add their driving licenses or state IDs to the Wallet app. Accordingly to Apple, the Transportation Security Administration is working to allow airport security checkpoints because users can use their digital Identity Card in their digital Wallets.
The Wallet app will automatically record expired boarding passes and event tickets. And Users will be able to add multiple passes to Wallet at once instead of having to manually add one pass at a time.
The new sharing tab in the Health app lets users share their selected health data with friends and family members. In the newest iOS, Lab results come with improvement in highlights, descriptions, and the functionality to pin results for quick access.
The Health app can be drawing users’ attention to the purposeful change in personal health metrics. To prevent fall risk, Apple also adds a new metric called “Walking Steadiness” to the Health app, especially for walkers. Using a QR code from a healthcare provider, COVID-19 test results and vaccination details can be stored in the Health app.
New Considerable Features
The new Live Text feature in the latest iOS allows users to recognize text in photos, screenshots, Safari, Quick Look, and live previews with the camera, and users can copy, translate, or even share the text. Using the new Live Text feature, users are able to find images from Spotlight Search or the Photos app.
Apple provides a security code to Apple Card users that changes regularly for more secure online transactions.
Mail Privacy Protection
If you opened the sender’s email, Mail Privacy Protection helps you to prevent seeing your IP address by the sender.
iCloud Private Relay
When you are browsing in Safari, requests are sent via two different internet relays so nobody can use your IP address, location, and browsing activity.
Alongside the latest iOS, Apple released the official stable version of iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, and tvOS 15. And Apple said that macOS Monterey will be released later this fall.
