Apple Reportedly to Use LG and Jahwa for iPhone 15 Periscope Camera
Apple is now reportedly planning to use its new supplier Jahwa Electronics alongside a long-term partner LG for a rumored Periscope camera for the iPhone 15.
On April 13, the South Korean manufacturer Jahwa Electronics said that it will invest 191 billion won ($151 million) to build new facilities that are capable of producing new optical image stabilization actuators.
According to a report from The Elec (via AppleInsider), Jahwas OIS sensors are ready to be shipped to LG Innotek to utilize in folded camera zoom modules, while LG said its primary partner — Apple is planning to bring folded zoom cameras.
Components from LG and Jahwa seem clearly indicating to a periscope camera setup, which will Apple to significantly enhance optical zoom capabilities on the iPhone.
Currently, it is expected that this all-new and most advanced camera system will be utilized in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max that will be launched in 2023.
