Apple is now going to add its MacBook Pro 2016 models, which were the first Pro Mac notebooks that come with the all-new Touch Bar to the vintage products list.
According to an internal memo shared with Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Resellers this week (obtained by MacRumors), Apple will add its 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models to the list of Apple’s Vintage Products on July 31, 2022.
The first MacBook Pro models with the brand new multitouch toolbar called “Touch Bar” was introduced on October 27, 2016, along with an entirely new, thinner, lighter enclosure with Apple’s own butterfly keyboard.
However, considering public demand, Apple removed the exclusive Touch Bar from the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models launched in October 2021.
Alongside the MacBook Pro 2016 models, the following Apple devices are also expected to be added to the vintage products list:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt Ports)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt Ports)
MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
MacBook (12-inch, Early 2016)
iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)
iMac (27-inch, Retina 5K, Late 2015)
iPad Pro (9.7-inch, Wi-Fi)
iPad Pro (9.7-inch, Wi-Fi + Cellular)
For those who are unfamiliar, Apple includes iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, or Apple TV products into the vintage products list which are crossed over 5 years and less than 7 years term of discontinuation. And more than 7 years passed since the last distributed product for sale are added to Apple’s obsolete products list.
