Apple TV Celebrates “They Call Me Magic” Documentary World Premiere with Earvin Johnson

On Friday, Apple TV+ hosted the world premiere event of the highly-anticipated “They Call Me Magic” docuseries ahead of its premiere on April 22, 2022.

On 15th April, at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles, the premiere event began with honoring the film star cast on the red carpet, including Earvin Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Samuel L. Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Patricia Arquette, Don Cheadle, and many more.

“They Call Me Magic” offers a rare glimpse into the incredible real-life story of Earvin Johnson, who left his mark on history through his work — both on and off the court — and continues to impact our culture today,” Apple describes.

With unprecedented access, the docuseries explores Earvin “Magic” Johnson’s remarkable journey from being the face of the Los Angeles Lakers and cementing himself as an all-time NBA legend, to changing the conversation around HIV and transforming into a successful entrepreneur and community activist.

Apple TV said the new inspiring highly-anticipated four-part documentary is “an illuminating, holistic look into the life and career of one of the most iconic figures in the world, Earvin “Magic” Johnson.”

Rick Famuyiwa has directed the new story, Rachel Morrison serves as cinematographer, while produced by Apple by XTR and New Slate Ventures produces the story in partnership with H.Wood Media and Delirio Films.

“They Call Me Magic” documentary is set to make its official debut globally on Apple’s video streaming platform on April 22, 2022.
