Twitter Launched Communities to Discuss Specific Topic Together

Today, Twitter announced to testing the new “Communities” feature to allow users to join in a group where people discussing a particular topic through tweets.

Twitter describes that the new feature lets multiple users talk about a specific topic with tweets in a dedicated Community. The new feature on Twitter seems similar to groups features on other social media platforms such as Reddit, Discord, and Facebook Groups.

Twitter Communities are currently invite-only which means you can only create your own Community if Twitter invites you from the front. Admins and moderators of the Community can invite an unlimited number of people to join their community and its members can invite up to 5 people through direct message.

However, if you want to create your Twitter Community right now, you can make a request by filling the “Communities Interest form” on the official website of Twitter, then, the company will review your request and if it will eligible, you will be able to launch your Twitter Community.

After joining the Twitter Community, users will be able to post their tweets particularly for that group of people, and also see other members’ tweets in a “Home” feed of content.

Twitter is launching Communities with so many other options that are mentioned in the detailed blog post published by the company. Although, because of the testing, all features are currently unavailable.

Moreover, the new feature is only limited to Twitter for iOS and web users as of now, and Android devices will receive Twitter Communities in the forthcoming updates.

Twitter Communities can be accessed through a dedicated tab in the bottom bar on iOS and for web users, it is located at the left sidebar. If you still don’t see the option, make sure that you are on the latest version.
