WhatsApp chat history transfer now available for everyone, here’s how to?

The world’s most-used instant messaging platform now allows migrating the entire WhatsApp chat history from Android to iOS and vice versa for everyone.

The new feature has been already available to beta testers for a while and now, after over a month of testing, the company is now rolling it out to all users on Android and iOS.

Here’re some requirements which you must have to comply with in order to transfer a whole WhatsApp chat history:

  • An Android phone must be running on Android OS Lollipop or Android 5 or above with the “Move to iOS” app installed
  • The iPhone should be running iOS 15.5 or later
  • Software version: WhatsApp for 2.22.10.70 or above, WhatsApp for Android 2.22.7.74
  • Both phones should be registered with the same number on WhatsApp
  • The iPhone must be new or factory reset to move data from Android
  • Both devices need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network
How to migrate WhatsApp chat history from Android to iOS?
  1. Open the “Move to iOS” app on an Android phone and follow on-screen instructions.
  2. A 4 or 6-digit code will be displayed on iPhone, enter the code on the Android device.
  3. Tap Continue and keep following on-screen instructions.
  4. On the Transfer Data screen, select WhatsApp.
  5. Tap Start on the Android phone and wait for a moment since the data has been prepared for export. Then, WhatsApp will be automatically signed out from an Android device.
  6. Tap NEXT and Confirm. Now, wait for Move to iOS to confirm the migration process.
  7. Go to the App Store on the iPhone and install the latest version of WhatsApp.
  8. Open the app and log in through the same phone number that was used on an Android device.
  9. Tap Start when the prompt will display to allow the transfer process has been completed.
  10. Now it will show all of the chats as it is on the iPhone as leave them on the Android phone.

During this transfer process, the companies don’t see what data has been transferred by a user and the WhatsApp chats will remain on the Android device until a user deletes WhatsApp or the factory reset the phone.
