Google Doodle celebrates Coccinelle’s 91st Birthday
Today, Doodle for Google is celebrating the singer, entertainer, and activist Coccinelle’s 91st Birthday, she was a pioneer for the LGBTQ+ community.
On this day in 1931, Jacqueline-Charlotte Dufresnoy was born in Paris and “the first French person to undergo gender-affirming surgery at a clinic in Casablanca in 1958.”
She earned the nickname “Coccinelle” or “ladybug” in English after wearing a red dress with black polka dots at a party.
People commemorate Coccinelle’s 91st Birthday for her talent and contribution to the acting and singing industry. She made her stage debut in 1953 by performing a song from the film Premier rendezvous at Madame Arthur, a cabaret venue in Paris.
The new special “Coccinelle’s 91st Birthday” Doodle artwork is now displayed on the homepage of Google in France, Germany, Israel, Austria, Peru, and the United Kingdom.
