Google Doodle celebrates Switzerland National Day 2022

Today, Doodle for Google is celebrating Switzerland National Day 2022, commemorating the country’s 101 years of complete freedom.

The national holiday is one of the most important memorial days in the country and Swiss people celebrate with family and friends gatherings, barbecues, and parades.

On this day in 1291, the three forest cantons of Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden signed the Federal Charter and unified in the struggle against Habsburg rule. The charter is Switzerland’s oldest constitutional document and regarded as the foundation of the country.

The Federal Charter was signed at “Rütli field,” where the official celebration begins with a speech delivered by the President of the Swiss Confederation.

Across the country, citizens in the streets proudly wave the nation’s flag, which represents their local community and cantons.

The new special “Switzerland National Day 2022” Doodle artwork is now displayed on the homepage of Google specifically in Switzerland.
