Google’s YouTube Shorts Now Available Globally

Google finally released its short video platform “YouTube Shorts” for worldwide users after first testing the feature in selected countries.

Short videos get more and more popular after the growth of TikTok – the first short video platform. And inspired by that, many other social media platforms are also trying to grow their own short-video platforms, including Instagram Reels and Snapchat Spotlight.

In September 2020, Google also announced its own short-video platform named “YouTube Shorts,” In a YouTube app, the feature has received a separate section in the bottom bar.

Initially, the new YouTube Shorts was only allowed for Indian users, but in March 2021, the new feature was also released in the United States. Just a month ago, Google released the platform in the United Kingdom, Canada, and parts of Latin America.

Now, YouTube Shorts are officially available for worldwide users in over 100 countries, according to The Verge, and the company will definitely make it available wherever it needs.

One of the primary reasons behind the huge growth of Google’s short-video platform is that In May 2021, Google announced the “YouTube Shorts Fund” that includes $100 million and it will be given over the course of the next year to the creators who published the Shorts on YouTube.
