Google Discontinued “Hangouts” for iPhone and iPad from the App Store

The search engine giant has now discontinued its cross-platform instant messaging service “Hangouts” app from the App Store specifically for the iPhone and iPad.

Alongside, Hangouts for Android has also been removed for new users, it will not appear in the search results but is still available for those who have already installed the app, noted by 9to5Google.

This step further is taken by the company with an aim to move and make people spend more time to Gmail, Google Messages, and Google Chat for their all conversations.

“Hangouts” app listing no longer appears on the App Store as well as the direct app link is also not working. Last month, Google confirmed that it would start making “Google Chat” a default application for Workspace customers who didn’t already shift.

In December last year, Google implement the functionality to join one-to-one meetings (video calls) and audio calls from Google Chat to the Gmail app.
