Samsung may drop “Z” naming from folding smartphones, just to name Galaxy Fold 4

Just a few days ahead of the launch, Samsung is now speculated to remove the “Z” naming from its upcoming flagship Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

According to the recent Tweet from SnoopyTech, Samsung may drop the “Z” letter from its folding smartphone series and name Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4 because the “Z” symbol is used by the Russian military in the war.

The decision also makes sense because these simple names sound and tune better. In fact, without specified reason, the company is already selling its folding smartphones without “Z” branding in European regions.

The Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will look almost identical to their predecessors with minor physical changes but both may have major internal enhancements, including for camera, battery, and display.

Samsung is set to unveil the next generation of its foldable flagship smartphones at the Unpacked August 2022 event on Wednesday, August 10 at 9 a.m. ET (Eastern Time).
