On Thursday, December 9, a Finland-based telecommunications company announced to deploy the first-ever 5G network in Bangladesh in partnership with Teletalk.
Teletalk is the only mobile phone operator and digital services provider in an entire country. And Nokia officially announced in a blog post it has been selected by Teletalk Ltd to deploy the first-ever latest and faster network technology in Bangladesh.
Nokia said the new and latest 5G technology will be really helpful to Bangladeshis by truly experiencing faster network speeds, lower latency, and reliability as well as support the positive and intelligent transformation of education and healthcare industries.
In the early stage of deployment, Nokia will provide the essential telecommunications equipment and its latest and most advanced optical networking technologies to Teletalk for 5G development in dense urban environments.
In the initial phase of deployment, Nokia will provide equipment from its latest ReefShark System on Chip-powered AirScale equipment portfolio including its 5G AirScale Digital Baseband Unit with a plugin capability to add capacity where it is needed. It will also supply its high-performance 64TRX AirScale massive MIMO Adaptive Antennas to cover all deployment scenarios including dense-urban environments and wide-area coverage.
Proudly, Teletalk is launching its 5G network on the country’s Golden Jubilee of Independence celebrations in the main city areas and also upgrading network support for customers in rural areas.
Since 2004, Nokia and Teletalk have been partnered for the deployment of 2G, 3G, and 4G network technologies, and the Finnish tech giant also supplies core solutions as well as signed a deal for modernization and network expansion.
Later last month, Nokia in partnership with India’s one of the most popular telecom providers “Airtel” conducted the successful 5G trial in the 700MHz band in India.

Teletalk Bangladesh Limited officially launched 4G (fourth generation) mobile data services commercially in December 2018 first in Dhaka, which is the capital of Bangladesh. But now, after almost three years, the mobile network operator finally started working on 5G in partnership with Nokia.
