Apple released iOS 16.1 Beta 1, here’s what’s new?

Today, Apple released iOS 16.1 Beta 1 to developers with an aim for testing purposes just a day after releasing the official stable version of iOS 16 for everyone.

The new iOS 16.1 Beta 1 comes with a new build number 20B5045d. This is an over-the-air update and is available to download for eligible iPhone and iPad users across the world who installed the developer beta profile on their iPhones and iPads from Apple Developer Center.

  • Battery percentage indicator in the status bar on all iPhones with Face ID
  • Edit Home Screen without having to edit the Lock Screen
  • New “Clean Energy Charging” option to reduce carbon emissions by charging selectively through analyzing daily usage (in-detail information is currently unclear)

However, it is recommended to download on the secondary device as there are some known issues as well which are expected to fix in future updates.

Along with this, Apple also released the first developer beta update for iPadOS 16.1, watchOS 9.1, and tvOS 16.1. You can know more about the new beta software update in the company’s official press release.
