Apple released iOS 16 Beta 5 – here’s what’s new?

Today, Apple released iOS 16 Beta 5 and iPadOS 16 Beta 5 to developers with an aim for testing purposes several days after releasing the fourth beta update.

The new iOS 16 Beta 5 and iPadOS 16 Beta 5 updates come with a new build number 20A5339d. This is an over-the-air update and is available to download for eligible iPhone and iPad users across the world who installed the developer beta profile on their iPhones and iPads from Apple Developer Center.

Currently, it is recommended to download on your secondary device as earlier beta software updates may have some bugs. During the testing of Apple’s all newest software platforms, Apple will release all-new features for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.

iOS 16 Beta 5 – Major new features:
  • The battery percentage level now shows in the battery icon on iPhone’s status bar at the top
  • A little bit louder sound when you use the “Play Sound” in the Find My app for one of your devices
  • A live mini player on the lock screen
  • Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio indicators are now displayed right next to the genre in the Apple Music app
  • Once tapping “Done” after taking and editing a screenshot, there is a new “Copy and Delete” option rather than just delete it.
  • Emergency SOS is now renamed “Emergency Call”

Each beta is coming with a huge number of newly-added features, resolved issues as well as known issues and their workarounds, including for the App Store, Accessibility, AirPlay, App Tracking Transparency, iCloud, Mail, Maps, Home, Messages, Weather and so much more.

Along with iOS 16 Beta 5 and iPadOS 16 Beta 5, Apple also released the fifth developer beta update for macOS Ventura, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16. You can get more details on the official release notes.
